Sorry to hear that. Why doesn't someone steal mine?
Why the poll?
On 27/1/15 a 1998 Red Series 1 TDI 300 Manual Discovery was stolen from our property.
The vehicle is still in mint condition, always garaged, with 145K's on the clock. The Vin # SALLJGMF7WA791760 and Engine # 18L23274B.
It has a black bulbar with 2 aerials, spotlights and a roof rack.
The Rego is FOXTEX. There is a reward!
Sorry to hear that. Why doesn't someone steal mine?
Why the poll?

Yes, not used to system yet. Loosing your baby is a shock to the system.
Thats not good. Will keep a lookout.
Very sad to hear that your pride and joy was stolen. I too have experienced this pain but fortunately had a good outcome. After the shock of finding mine missing along with a set of keys (don't ask), I followed the advice of my mates at work and did a search around our neighbourhood. Luckily for me I found it only a few blocks away undamaged and only a few k's more on it.
I guess the message is check your local area and don't lose hope of finding it.
Trust it all works out well and the Turd's get caught and dealt with properly.

Thanks for the support.
It's sad when you buy a Disco brand new 15 years ago and add all the extras, always service it, always garage it, and now still in mint condition, and then some cretin steals it. Then the insurance offers $5000 payout. Where could you get another Series 1 TDI in mint condition with 145K's, fully equipped for that amount?
That is sad and regarding the insurance there is a lesson to remember.
Never insure a vehicle for the market value, do it by agree value.
My RRC 1986 is insured for $5000.
My old 1995 Tdi300 Defender was insured for $15000.
I learned my lesson in 1972
Point taken about market value level of insurance. The agreed value premium would by now have cost $6000 extra since the purchase of the vehicle many years ago.
Instead it was originally decided to spend some of that money on additional safety and security systems. Further to that there were basic engine immobilizer hidden switches and backup batteries.
This system worked very effectively over the years. (The only problem that caused some annoyance, was that the vehicle would some times stop without warning, going over rough corrugated roads. This was cased by the anti-tow/tilt theft relay vibrating). But.... When you back the car out of the garage, to sweep the floor, you don't always think that some cretin is going to step into it, and steal your car in broad daylight.
