    WTF just happened?

    Oh ****.

I was driving home from work. 1 minute from my house i lost power steering, battery light turned on in the dash and rev meter dropped out.

When i pulled into my driveway there was steam coming from under the bonnet and coolant was flooding out. Coolant was coming out of the passenger side of the block underneath the alternator, sought of.

The temp gauge was not indicating the car was over heating.

    Need the landy boys help

I can't help you (not a mechanic) but it doesn't look good. Could you post more detail about what sort of Landy you drive and the engine type and I am sure one of the mechanics on the Forum will be able to offer advice soon!!!

Broken serpentine belt? That would account for no power steering, no alternator (hence the battery light/tacho). Maybe it tore out the hose on its path of destruction?
Could also be anything connected by the belt coming adrift and flying through the rad - hope not.

yes you are right mate, it is the serpentine belt. Strange thing is it has only come loose, not thrown it. The leak i don't understand

I checked the oil and it is good, not milky white.

If it's loose then maybe it was slipping for a good part of the trip and the waterpump wasn't operating properly. Engine "boiled" and spat water out of the overflow tank?

If it hasnt thrown or shredded the serp belt, check the tensioner and also check that the ps pump pulley hasnt come adrift.

My bet is on the tensioner. How far had you driven before the event happened?
