Think about it. If any manufacturer could get 10% fuel efficiency savings from a $1 piece of tin, every car manufactured today would have such a device.

They spend millions of dollars getting 1% improvement, so if it worked, all the manufacturers would have their own version fitted as standard.

Keep your money in your pocket I reckon.

Should I mention Peter Brock and Crystals on this thread....

Fuel saving gadgets - a professional engineer's view

Save the money and you can buy us both a few beers

Interesting in amongst the "commentary" there is an acknowledgement that removal of EGR system does lower fuel consumption but increases output of NO2.

“Today” there is a market driven focus on fuel consumption in the good old days who cared.

EGR systems were developed by manufactures to meet emission standards by the quickest and cost effective way. The increase in fuel would not have been a major consideration.

I’d suggest that EGR systems, as an example, will now be reviewed by manufactures to minimise their effect of fuel consumption.

I have a much better system, is called the "Block-O-Wood". You just fit it under the accelerator pedal.

It can also be used as an emergency hand brake:

There is also a racing version available, it's painted red and is fitted under the brake pedal instead of under the accelerator.

    Cheers,

Sorry did that 20 years ago, called the Organic Handbrake. There was also the half brick, called the Ceramic Handbrake. With attached string you don't even have to open the door to rescue it.

I have tried them had one before the intake manifold and one before
the turbo. the turbo one went in first and seems to spool the turbo
up slightly earlier 100/200 rpm....maybe ???. The other one has been taken out
with slight improvement less restriction into the manifold..
Have been going to take the other one out again to see what difference
    it makes.

Sure you could pick the difference? I would want to see dyno figures to prove anything! You have to knock out all those pesky variables by measuring everything. Repeatedly. Hiclone in, Hiclone out, in, out. Perceptions are so much easier to fool than accurate machinery...
