G'day all, I am hopeing someone has an answer for my Disco dramas, there are a couple probslems with this vehicle, but I love the car & it has potential.
I have previously been purely a Toyota owner/driver, but then got the Disco,
(series 1, '94 Auto petrol 3.9) & decided she's pretty good,......well mostly,...
I have burnt out two high/low beam switches, simply because of conecting Cibie Oscars (100w 12v) into the circuit, because as your aware, they have to be on the dip switch for legal reasons. The Cibies have been wired correctly, fused, switched & relayed, all spot on.
I am thinking the standard L/Rover switch themselves are not capable of handling the Amps/Watts or whatever, causing the switch to burn out.
The first time, I thought fair enough, it's old, but the brand new second one lasted only three hours & they are not cheap! Needless to say, the Cibies are on thier own dash switch/circuit at the moment. No probs but not legal.
Any ideas/suggestions?
My second drama with the car is that it has a very definate, "chatter/grinding rumble come vibration" from somewhere in the drive line, especially when moving off in 1st. I cannot determine if it's Transmission, diff or what? It's not very severe, but the whole car vibrates from it no matter how quietly you move off.
I am just waiting for something to go bang leaveing me stranded somewhere!
Does anyone know where I could take it? Someone I could trust?
So far, 3 seperate business's "experts," have given me 3 seperate answers & I do not fancy paying around $100.00 p/h for them to "experiment" till they find the problem.
Sorry to be so long winded, just hopeing someone can give me a clue!
