    AFM?

    G'day all.

Throwing this out there, my 93 V8 Disco1 has some problems... Mainly the idle is all over the place when you engage the clutch. Drives ok etc, but once driven the rpm jumps to approximately 1500-2000 as soon as the clutch is engaged. It settles after 10-20 secs but still not desirable. I have been told the AFM is stuffed which costs big$$, can anybody shed more light on this issue or am I on track to dropping the big motor in, stroked an all?!?!

    Help is much appreciated, cheers.

Lot of folks are quick to point to the MAF and blame it ... Yep they can be an EXY item to replace as an experiment

But there are other items that should be checked first

    Check for vacuum leaks

    Clean the throttle body
Clean & check all the vacuum hoses going to the throttle body (Make sure that they are not blocked)
Clean the fire trap on top of the drivers side rocker cover
Check that the vacuum advance works + blocked vacuum hose + blocked inlet connection at the plentium housing

Clean the MAF & recalibrate it
Check the TPS voltage (Calibrate it)
Clean the Idle Stepper unit at the back of the plentium intake

Borrow a MAF prior to buying one to eliminate it, as plenty have bought a new one and it has not resolved the problem

I noticed you live in Wanneroo .... There is a company called EFI Performance located in Balcatta .... They sell, live, service and breath EFI
