    Disco 2

G'day All, my son has retired his 85 classic and bought himself an 2002 disco v8 with 158,000ks, went to Sydney with him to pick it up, nice return trip, approx 14lts/100, mostly using cruise control, what do you reckon?

I would like to call on the brains trust for assistance with an problem, when the vehicle is locked then unlocked the rear doors don't unlock, to overcome the problem you operate the inside handle once which unlocks the door then again to open the door, all works fine until you lock up again???

A little disappointed that there is no grease nipples in the hookes joint, had to replace one of the unis, long weekend, no spares open, robbed one from a spare shaft from a classic, good to see there is still some interchangeable parts in use.

A not so good upgrade, non serviceable wheel bearings, she has just started to hum on shifting the weight to the left front, still quiet in the straight ahead mode, a might unusual had to take a short rest when informed of the $550.00 replacement cost, (think I'm going to stick with my old classic, trying to talk my daughter into one as well instead of the p38 she would really like), any places with a bit better price than this??

I'm wondering what diagnostic unit I should buy for this vehicle (would it service a p38 as well), from reading posts I'm sure I'm going to need one sooner or later.

    All advice gladly accepted

    Cheers Jhonno

    Hi Jhonno.

might be able to help hith the door locking thing. I found the sme problem until I pressed the remote button twice by mistake and the rear doors opened. give that a go.

Sorry can't help with the rest. I doo agree with the hubs though. makes no dsence to me.

    Cheers

    Matt

    Tried it, no go.

Young bloke tells me that on the first push only the drivers door opens, apparently this is in case you are under attack, second push opens all doors.

    Thanks for reply

The key fob is programmed for one push, driver's door only...two pushes, all doors. It's a security thing so no-one can jump into the car from the other side etc. Also, when locking up if you hold the lock button down for about 2 seconds the headlights will stay on (assuming you're using it at night time of course) for about 30 seconds and the car is locked normally. This allows you to get from the car to somewhere lit up like from the driveway to your house door etc. Headlights go out automatically after this.

    Hi Mick

Didn't know about the H/lamp op, thanks, the young bloke informs me that all doors are operated from the drivers door control travelling around the vehicle from right to left, why does the rear cargo door unlock and not the rear doors????

I have a 2000 D2 so things may be a little different to your 2002 model, however all doors should operate from the key fob on unlocking/locking as I described......you can also operate the door lock/unlock from the master button on the dash once inside the vehicle (this is where my master lock control is located inside the car above the ashtray, not on the driver's door pad).

Can't explain why you appear to have no control over the rear doors from the master pad though, that seems strange to me. Maybe someone with an identical model as yours could advise on this.
