(FWIW I bought a set of Philips Blue Vision - they lasted several months and I've now got the OE 1998 GE Globes back in my car. I'll still carry them as spares, too!)
I ordered exactly same ones, should be here in a couple of days.

Sounds to me like a good alternative, price wise etc, and i will have standards as spare.

    Thanks

Standard spares? Buy 2 sets! I just bought 4 sets for 3 cars and 1 set spare. Discount postage! Only $90 the lot.

That would be my usual way of thinking but I have to be more realistic, much less night driving now I work days mostly, trying to reduce stuff in garage and I want to see how they are.

From what is being said on here and other sites, they are a huge improvement.

My last trip I smashed my light force 240's, now back to the old narvas and they too got a stone hole now.
So lights are not my thing anymore it seems.

I think the best ones are the Philips X-treme Power for me. Bought two sets from powerbulbs.

All the links in here were very helpful.

    Thanks

I read on a HID globe website several years ago that you would be wasting your time retro fitting HID globes into lights not designed to take these globes as it's all in the reflector etc. Well I held off until a couple of months ago after I saw a mates Patrol with 'em....$169 on eBay from Sydney. Fantastic result!

I bought the same set up...plug 'n' play and couldn't be happier. They are high/low beam 35w 6000k units and I did not need to refocus my lights and no-one has flashed me yet (save for a bloke in a low sports car I was following who did so when I passed him and thats only because I am much higher than he was and he was in the direct beam).

They are brilliant in fog (no pun intended) and the wet! at 6000k they have a nice blue/white appearance. I have also retro fitted my Light Force jobbies with their HID conversion kit....couldn't be happier!!!

    cheers

I fitted a set of HID's in my D1. $75 delivered for the set, plug in easy install.
I was going to fit a set of relays to take the stain off the light switch.
This was easier and about the same price.
I really like the light as it shows up white lines and signs much better.

    Qhy bother HID'ing the headlights.
get a decent loom (like from Traxide) and decent halogen lights and you'll be happy enough.
If you need distance you get some HID's for teh bar for country driving. No-one needs HID lights around town.. not really.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I support that view. The lights on my defender are more than adequate for city driving after a wiring upgrade and +50 halogen bulb upgrade.

Aftermarket HID's can be a distraction to others and are not legal for good reason...you might be able to see better but everyone else is left less able to see because of the glare. The more I "see" them the less I tolerate them.

As said above it's not just the lamp its the whole assembly that makes the light.

I fitted HID's and love them.

They draw the same current and better light output. So regardless you should upgrade your wiring.

It is subjective and personel if the added output is an advantage or not

As they say each to their own
