Dave Ashcroft reckons pegging the diff eliminates a lot of that problem, but everyone just seems to go 80 Series centres here......

I'm not sure why. The pinion looks a lot better than a Rover one, and the only thing that I can think of is if there is a difference in the crownwheel or the hemisphere flange. Either that or just bad luck on the track! :D
We tried to fit a P38 diff into a Rover housing at your house. :lol2: It didn't fit through Rover diff hole in the housing. :no2: But that said, I think that it could be easily made to fit.
What is the most cost effective and good long term answer if you want off road reliability with the D2 diff wise?
