Thread: Wrangler MTR question.

i have MTRs,, and when it comes time to actually have to buy tyres at a real price i would buy them (got all 4 new for $50), but they to are expensive around 350$ mark i think,

they were very well, have only got very few chips from about 30k on them, and atlot of offroad use,

in the sand they are like shovels when up at full 40psi,
put them down to 20 and its perfect, iv found that teh side wall is to hard to make the tyres bag out they have to be at like less then 15psi,

the only puncher iv had was a board with nails on it fell of a builders truck in front of me and had no choice but to run over it not happy

i have 265/75 and have found pretty much no diff in take off and speedo reading, and for such a aggressive tyre they are pretty quiet,

im very happy

im expecting a easy 60k out of them befor they start to loose there bite

I would look at Km2s, I have them in 255 85 16 and super happy with them.

Something tells me DM won't be buying BFGs

We have had a set of old style MTR's and they were great!!
For a tread pattern that most would call fairly tame for a mud terrain tyre, they seem to go extremly well off-road.
I was running them on my disco when they were getting very low and was driving some pretty difficult clay hills etc

From what i have heard the new MTR's are great.
The main thing i have heard from people who have just fitted them is how quiet they are, i would expect them to be pretty good in the sand as well.

G'Day there, I have had a set of the new Wrangler MTR's since End of Jan and put about 7,000kms on them. Managed to pick them up for $282 each which I was very happy about in 235 85 16 sizing. Wear is not really noticeable after 7,000kms as you would hope really. I'm rotating through my five tyres and hoping they last a couple of years at least.

They are a little noisy but it's not all that bad and if you keep em at 40PSI its fine, the nooise of the car in general keeps the tyre noise at bay and doesn't have an annoying high pitch whine like some of the other muddies do.

I haven't done as much off road as i would have liked but a weekend in the high country gave them a good seeing too and chipping is very minimal, they bagged excellently and the sidebiters do a great job. 20PSI for me seems good for the tougher stuff. Can't give you an opinion on sand but with the sidewalls bagged down i reckon they should go great.

When i was looking at tyres the Silent Armour were only a few dollars different per tyre but you will probably get more km's out of a set.

Thanks for that info, that's really helpful. Still undecided and the Silent Armours are cheaper than the MTR's but neither are as low as $282 each

Did you get a price from Stuart at City tyres in Darwin..MMinn st.. he was the cheapest by far when I got my 245/70/16..
