Thread: Door lock erratic operation

I have trilled the threads and the web but can't yet find a likely solution to my problem. The passenger front door lock actuator from my 2000 disco2 has been playing up. It will not respond at all to the dash mounted lock/unlock switch. It will not respond to the road speed activated auto locking trigger. It will not respond to the unlock command from the key fob BUT it will always respond to the lock command from the key fob. I have taken off the door trim and strangely it will slightly click on the unlock command from the dash switch (but still nothing from the lock on that switch). Any ideas? I had figured the actuator except for the response always to the key fob locking...

common problem. mine does the same on drivers door & rear drivers side door. needs new locking mechanism. do a search on door locks in the D2 forum on AURLO. you will find a lot of comments. Look in the good oil - I think there is a tutorial on how to pull the door apart & replace the mechanism parts from $250 - $400 I think.:
