EPDM ! it's days are numbered.
    Engine oil kills it quick!
It's going to swell, go cheese soft and start peeling apart soon!

Yeah I know. Need to find out what the seal is used for.
But it's not a super quick thing. As it's not under pressure it shouldn't leak everywhere and it can't be worse than the original!
Look at the OE seal, mine was rock hard and basically broke off.
Trying to find my old Cat login so i can get in and look for myself.
    Failing that, Statewide Bearings tomorrow!

    Cheers

    Thanks Andrew!

I'll get those dimesions cross-referenced thru our bearing/seal supplier and post back with a standard BS number ...

I think a Viton equivalent would be preferable to EPDM.

    OK Folks.

    It's a BS-330

    Nitrile - $0.70

    Viton - $7.70

This has been a public service announcement.

Already have the LR part number, it's just that the material isn't very good. The LR number is IIRC for the whole plug not just the o ring.

I got a quote this morning for the Viton seal.

$14.80 from Consolidated Bearings, with 2 - 3 days lead time on the order.

Mind you, as a once every 7 - 10 years part, it wont break the bank.

im keen on getting just a new o ring too as i didnt replace mine (the whole plug) not that long ago with one off ebay, non genuine and i suspect not good quality o ring as its leaking again and hardened already...

plus im hoping to get this today for a fix now rather than wait for a genuine plug which may be pricey.
