I'm really chuffed about this thread. I have now spoored up the Provent dealer in my country, and will see what he tries to charge me for a unit.
Otherwise, I have their PDF files, and I'll build my own. For pity's sake, it's just an oil vapour condenser and separator. How hard can it be? ;)
I have thought about just making an oil catch can, like used in racing sedans. But this looked the Bee's Knees.
Im thinking that I won't plumb the oil return in, at least not straight away. But rig up a small bottle to catch it, so I can monitor how much oil is being lost to the breather.
Hi Andrew.
Could you please put me down for one also if there's still time. Postage to Kalgoorlie.
Thanks ................ BM
my return line is not plumbed in and I have collected about a cupful (approx 250 ml) every 10k on a 2003 td5 disco with 170k on the clock.
So when is the price finalised?
Had a wrangle with Main office in Melbourne. They were trying to get the pricing through Hella Australia who coincidently just picked them up Monday this week as a distributor. Mann and Hella are now part of the same main company but separate entities. Anyhoo, the idiot in Melbourne hasn't got back to me after repeated calls so I'm going direct to Mann and bypassing my Daimler account. All I need to do is get a direct account re initialized and it should all be go.
I do apologize for the delay but have had head knob ends from Mercedes Melbourne over here this week telling us how to run the dealership despite not being able to supply the stock to do so..... *****.....
OK, so by my count, so far we have a qty of 32 ProVents and 4 filter elements!!
Does anyone want me to try for qty deal on air, fuel and the two oil filters to suit??
Cheers
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Have wanted to put one in for some time- if not to late Ill buy one please, thanks.
Steve
I already have a good stock of oil/oil, air & fuel filters (50k/120k) ... but you can never have too much ... I buy when I find good prices on these items.
See what you can do Andrew !
... also, is it worth getting a spare Provent element (ie-much saving price wise on this deal) ... I know I won't need it for a while ... but I will need one eventually.
... you can never have too much ;)
Kev..
For the provent element, haven't been able to find any suggested service intervals but I guess it depends on how much of a breather you have.
As far as I can tell, it's a wrapped coal filter so technically there's nothing stopping you from using a solvent to clean it.
If you use mineral oil, I would expect it to clag quicker than synthetic which by rights actually shouldn't as it doesn't varnish like mineral. I use syn so not going to bother with a spare element yet.
I can get for around the $70ish mark I think. I would assume with the amount of Provents, a good price will be forthcoming.
Roverrescue and slugburner both want them so I will put you down for a price.
Cheers
Andrew
