TD5 D2 manual gear box oil cooler

Has any one have experienced these ?
i own a manual with a gear box oil cooler i probarly should be happy a prevoius owner got this installed but right now NO
i bought a nice shiney new upgraded intercooler for a TD5 manual a good couple of months ago not knowing i had this installed i am now told i need a auto intercooler been smaller to accomadate the auto intercooler

My problem is that i have owned this for awhile now and the company not keen to exchange it ,can i remove the mini intercooler and just conect the 2 lines back up with some sort of special hose to fit the larger cooler i know it sounds like i am going backwards but for my use i dont really need a gearbox oil cooler and i see the above been the easiest option any help will be greatly appreciated
    thanks Kelvin

The gearbox oil cooler are standard in all D2's manuals, the td5 defenders don't have one...well because they are a pov pack

you could just remove the inlet and outlet oil lines on the gear box and just block up the holes with welsh plugs...

    DONT DELETE THE COOLER!!!!
Remove/relocate it by all means, but replace it with an auto trans cooler mounted elsewhere.
They dont fit it to look pretty!!!!

I recall it being mentioned that the oil cooler on a D2 was part of the factory tow package.
I havent got to the bottom of it yet,our Defender runs 10 to 15degC cooler than the D2.Could be the D2 has a stuffed radiator, will find out when I fit the new radiator/waterpump/thermostat/ASE Intercooler.

err, all Aus spec TD5 'fenders have a g/box oil cooler, it just doesn't have a real heat exchanger out front but a simple hard line that goes up beside the engine and returns.

If this is the case, surely the aftermarket intercooler manufacturers would know this and either design the intercooler to fit around it or provide instructions on relocating the oil cooler?

I believe its a UK import cooler. No need for a manual trans cooler up there.
I looked at mine and thought the cheaper import wouldnt fit(too deep).Ordered the more expensive, but local built/designed Tombie/ASE intercooler.
    Should be here any day

Yep, the manual g/box coolers aren't fitted on UK/Europe delivered vehicles. The southern Europeans have a big whinge about this as they can get as hot in summer as we do
