Have a chat to Manuel Transmissions in Thomastown. I believe he and Justin from Tassie have worked out ways to mod the 4HP22 hydraulic boxes to lock up 3rd gear. Not sure of the cost, but when I enquired some time back it was reasonable in view of the internal changes made. Makes the box MUCH better for towing and keeps the trans MUCH cooler.

My county ZF auto has had the 3rd gear lock up done prior to myself fitting it...
and running 32"tyres and a Disco transfer case it locks up at 90kmh roughly....
best part is i drive around on secondary roads in 3rd and only select 4th on a 110kmh hwy as it struggles otherwise..
Damn rover V8's with different cams...
Guess it could be worse... i could have a 13B with a TQ30 cam in it!!!!!!!!!!
