Disco Radiator end tanks
While performing a bit of work on the Disco I accidently bumped the return line from the radiator to the expansion tank braking off the end just as it exits the radiator. The length is about the same as the width of a screw clamp, allowing me just enough length to be able to clamp the return line back on. This is a temporary fix and do not trust it as it will mostlikely eventually come off.
Now am I up for a new end tank or is there some sort of brass connection that could possibly be screwed into the tank?
I am going to do a ring around to a couple of rad shops to see what they have to say.

Just had the same problem with my sons D2. Is your tank plastic or brass? If brass no problem to solder a new fitting in and should be cheap enough without replaing the Radiator..
Radiator shop quoted $200 to pull the plastic tank off and swap with another we already had. Couldnt promise a succesful outcome because he thought the tank may crack when reassembled.
As an interim we used a 1/8 BSPT x 1/4 Brass Tail and carfully drilled and tapped it into the side tank. Some Devcon quick metal was then applied around the fitting to give a bit of support and strength to the repair. It has held well for the last 3 weeks but I would not fully trust it for a permanent repair.
Decided to buy a new radiator.
New radiator between $350 and $450 (aftermarket rebuild and Genuine new) Opted for genuine rather than aftermarket as difference was only $50 after freight. (Suttons in Alice are very good) If you dont have the tools its probably not worth pursuing for a temp fix..
Just as well he opted for a new radiator, because the wrong screw had been put into the top shroud
........oops coolant everywhere again.
More devcon.
cheers

Pretty sure mine is plastic. After a couple of phone calls, one shop thinks he can put a new nipple on, where another is having trouble finding a tank end for replacement. Those prices seem fair for a new radiator, thought they were worth more.

With aly/plastic radiators, the problem lies in the tags bent over clamping the tanks on. Once these are bent back to allow the tank to be removed, the aly stresses and will generally fracture when bent back to reclamp.
No rad shop will ever guarantee this repair. The aly radiators are actually not designed to be a repairable item either so just go with a new one an go genuine unless you find the actual OEM unit which i think is actually either BEHR or someone else.
Cheers
