Disco steel rims on D130 & engineered

I am currently running 16x7" Disco rims on my Def 130 in lieu of std 6 & 1/2" because the Disco rims can be run tubeless.
    The track increase seems OK.
Has anyone had this engineered for insurance and liability reasons?
    Cheers Pat.

    Defender 130 rims

I looked into this some 2 years back and the engineer I spoke to said was not worth the trouble or cost.

If had been specified by LR for 130 then no problem. The 130 steel rims are wider, different offset and stronger from what I was told. There are alloys from LR for a 130 and the engineer said would be cheaper to buy a new set of those than to have the testing (possibly destructive) done for approval. He also said the offset would be an issue and may require a technical statement from LR.

I have been told the offset improves the turning circle! would hate it to be any worse!

The insurance company said they would not cover if wheels were not LR approved.

I run the steel rims tubeless! I have 2 sets of 5 130 rims one riveted and one welded construction and all are run without tubes. The leaks I had initially turned out to be punctures or valve related. no problems in 4 years now.

Interested though in what others have to say. I have seen many 130s with non original rims.

D1 rims are narrower offset than standard defender rims of any spec ive found that a D1 rim with a 265/75 will near touch the spring perches in the back of any county/defender 255/85 are much the same too .

Unless you have the D1 rims flipped they would be no good with anything wider than say a 235/85 and you will loose wheel track and turning circle .

Ive fitted neg25 16x8 dynamic rims with 285/75 's to my 136" Isuzu county and they have given me some turning circle back and it now drives so much better and NRMA seem happy with them to be on the county .
