CHROME SWIVEL HUBS ON FRONT AXLE
Has any one every had the swivel hubs rechromed I have 3 sets that are buggered and I dont see why they could not be rechromed , only thing is they would have to be hard chrome not dec chromed
If any one has had this done on the east coast where and the cost please.

I didn't think they were chromed. More like hardened steel.

Getting swivells re done is iffy
You have to either fill the scores or pitt marks then grind the surface, most places don't have a cylindrical grinder. They have grinders to do flat cylinders surfaces. All depends how mutch they linish off the surface, most end up under size and you will have sealing problems sooner. Be careful!
Labour intensive, most probably cheaperto buy new ones...

I have 2 big industrial chrome places here that do the major industries here
both were not too keen on doing swivels. One said they would do "flash chrome" that is only a thin layer. I can't remember the price but it was around the price of new ones anyway Hardchrome services in South Aus do them.
The piccy is a re chromed swivel that was chromed over the wear mark.

Hodgo,
What about de-rusting them and filling the pits with an epoxy filler?
I have read on some UK forums of people doing this and being happy with the results,

Call Hardchrome Engineering, Wellington Road, Clayton and chat with the the technical department.
They will advise on the chance of success/failure.

My '85 trayback has teflon coated swivels. Sorry I dont have the slightest details as they were already done when I bought it.
Just thought I would put that idea forward. I was told more exxy than chrome though.
