My car just started to play up, I checked the plug at the computer and found lots of oil there so I cleaned it up and it's running fine again, hopefully it'll last until I can get a new loom.

Just had another thought, if dialectric grease was used to cover the pins and terminals of the computer plug it may stop the effects of the oil on the connections?

I did a couple of these about 12 to 18 months ago by thoroughly cleaning all connections plus the wiring and reassembling. Each job took about an hour, without hurrying and both have been performing OK ever since.

I can't understand why people replace the loom. After all it's only a few plugs and some wires.

I appreciate the tip re nipping a hole in the wiring shroud to drain the oil before it reaches the ECU plug though and will do that do that when I next lift the bonnet.
