Did they stop giving a damn with Puma? Its crazy how many problems they have had reported on AULRO including that problem with a basic lift!
Did LR pour its cash into the other vehicles in its line up and hope that the legend of Defender would be enough and they would deal with warranty later if and when!

LR have left the defender to wither on the vine for many years.I'd say they can't wait to get rid of it and sell the new one on the same platform as the discovery.Really they are a bunch of dickheads,they have the last true 4WD but seem hell bent on destroying it. Pat
It would be interesting to see a pole on this. Maybe one day when we see some one broken down in a remote area and endangered through known problems in Transfer caes or gear box LR may start to pay attention. time to make notes of conversation with LR when dealing with them and should these problems keep occuring, then perhaps legal advice. Don't know but it sure is very worrying. This is happening to so many people. What would be the comparison of numbers of Puma with gearbox transfer problems to numbers being sold in Austrlaia. We are only a very small market So something tells me that the number of us that have experienced problems would be quite high. Quality Assurance is something that is obviously lacking so that tell me that perhaps negligence is a probabiltiy. Don't know, just my thoughts.

Thanks for your input I have just got off the phone from Land rover and found out that the front CV joint cage has fractured. Apparently this has not happened before, on their inspection the CV joint had no manufacturing or assembly faults. There aparently has been some force put through it such as spinning the front wheels and then suddenly gripping (the word abuse was mentioned). In other words the car has been thrashed!!! NOT BY US!! I stated we haven't even towed anything with it and haven't even used it off road as we are carefully running it in. Anyway the parts will not be in until January the 7th. We will see what happens then. BTW We bought it with 10km on the clock but it had 100 on it when we picked it up?

The dealer I bought the Defender from just rang and reassured me that it should be covered under warranty it shouldn’t have happened and that no one else to his knowledge drove the car prior to delivery? I'll keep you all updated. I feel better now as I know my missus is priceless but I don't think she likes the idea of being traded for a car!!!
Not the last - Jeep may lay claim to that with the JK Wrangler. LR need to take a lesson from them.Quote:

I'm touching wood all over the place hoping that my initial problems are final and the car is sound from now on. But the more you read the more nervous one becomes about the reliability of pumas. There seems to be such a broad spectrum of issues, it's not like they all suffer from one common problem.
DON'T accept that you may be the cause of the failure. Absolute rubbish. These CV's are renowned to last 200,000 to 300,000km easily with standard tyres. I have them in my RRC with WAY more torque than a Puma, AND 33" tyres AND they get a caning:twisted: Never broken one yet. Even better; the Puma has a reduced turning circle, protecting the CV's from stresses even more!Quote:

I finally heard back from Land rover the speed sensor failed and the ABS sensor was malfunctioning on the (L) front wheel causing the front brake to be applied by the traction control while driving on the road. This may only have occurred while cornering as that is the only time a THUMP THUMP sound could be heard and felt but this may have been the CV joint failing as well. It amazes me that the traction control unit applying the brake could cause the CV joint to fail; it must really slam on the brake when it kicks in. Land rover is repairing it under warranty and as soon as the parts arrive from the motherland UK. They have kindly continued the supply of a hire car as we do not have any other transport at the moment. When the warranty period is over is there a way to install a switch to turn the traction control off as I do not want this to happen again? Regards Flatty
