Has anyone had any personal experience with methanol injection on either a turbo petrol or turbo diesel?
It is something I would like to consider for the TD5.
More trouble than its worth... an old idea re-gurgitated!
A very very fine fog of hydrogen hydroxide would give better results...
This acts as an additional intercooler and extra fuel has to be introduced into the denser charge to maintain correct mixture.WW2 technique used for "military emergency power" mostly in the big radials used by the USAF in Corsairs and Thunderbolts. The aircraft had an external indicator showing use of this power setting and all engines used this way had to be dismantled and inspected.
Definitely more trouble than it is worth on a motor vehicle. Water injectors were common in the 1950's when the octane rating of fuels sold in Australia were incompatible with the compression ratios on many new cars.

Had on an old Carby non turbo datto. Gave a little gain on that motor. Best thing about it was that we could run almost anything in the fuel tank.
