With a 300Tdi and the probe in the EGR pocket, cool down temps are problematic, ie. you could idle the car for ten minutes and it might not drop under 200*C as IMO there isn't enough flow/gas speed/turbulence there to show a true reading at idle. (high speed/load/revs shows the the readout reacting very quickly)
Because of this I use 270* as a shut down figure on my setup.
Seems to work.
