Have had the Amaron green batteries recomended to me, I have got one but have yet to use it in anger as did a head gasket before had a chance to install.
Hi Luke
I would just trot down to a reputable battery shop and ask them to recommend something that suit's your needs and budget.
They can do a test on your old battery, so I would be having that done as well.
While you are working on the vehicle, spend some time going over all the connections of the heavy cables, give the facing surfaces of the joints, the mother of all cleans and then fasten them back securely. Some white petroleum jelly / Vaseline spread around the joint, will help to stop any more corrosion occurring.
Also, keep a sharp eye open for any soldered joints in the lugs that need redoing, as they sometimes crack and at first glance could still appear ok.
Cheers Arthur
It's also worthwhile considering a marine grade battery - they are built to withstand the constant vibrations of belting into rough seas and are therefore also suited to the bumps and jolts of 4WDing.
Thanks Guys,
All sorted now. got a Exide battery 600CCA standard fit for 300TDI. Just spend the last couple of hours putting the centre dash back together after relocating the Immobliser under the steering wheel for later re-soldering (Maybe spider bypasss??).
Does anyone know where I can get a good nick centre dash facia as my original is sstarting to fall apart from the heat and 12yr old plastic. The one with the air vents and Heater controls on it??
cheers Luke
