Never had any trouble with wet scotchbrite pads. I would never use them on the windscreen though having scratched one before using wet paper towel of all things.

Eucalyptus oil and paper towel – will also clear your sinuses.
I spoke to a bloke in Ringwood (Vic) for removal and replacement of window film.........
ABOUT $1000!
Said they steam off the old film then thoroughly clean before applying the new film. Exactly how they do it is 'Secret Tinters Business' but I know now that this secret business is charged out at about $450/hour![]()

Get the film off first using a hairdryer or similar to soften the film. Obviously try to pull as much off in one piece as possible. This will leave a sticky layer of adhesive on the glass.
You need a solvent with a slow evaporation rate. Turps stinks, but works well. Kero will also work but not as well as Turps. Care will need to be taken to watch any excess fluid doesn't get onto anything it shouldn't. It will take a lot of cloth or towel, as the adhesive gums up, and collects into balls. Unfortunately there is no option but to repeatedly replace the cloth or towel, and repeatedly reapply the turps. One you have the adhesive off, a cleaner such as Windex can be used to take the Turps residue off ( oily ) Soapy water or Metho will work, but again will take some time.
No option but to take it slowly and work methodically through the glass if you want it off, and the glass super clean.
Not a nice job. Don't envy you the task !
