    Wire for Traxide controller

On the right is the 35mm2 wire as supplied with the 160A controller. I'm rewiring and the closest I found was the 35mm2 pictured on the left. It has a clear vinyl tubing type insulation. Is this likely to be OK under the bonnet or will it melt.

On my last D1 the PO had run the cable under the radiator support panel and it never posed any problems in contact with the top of the radiator. I'm not so certain about the new wire.

    Thoughts?

Hi B92 8NW, where did you source the cable from.

If it’s audio cable, the copper would be better than that used for automotive cable but the insulation is not designed to tolerate any form of heat.

The hair dryer test should give you an idea. ( I like that suggestion )

It's from Jaycar, just says 35mm2 power. I hit it with a butane torch and it seemed to hold up OK, but I reckon should measure up properly and order decent stuff from you next week.

Did you get a 35mm2 crimping die, IIRC you were waiting on one?

As long as it was not specifically labelled AUDIO cable, it should be fine.

Yes, I do now have a 35mm2 terminal crimper.
