I made major improvements in my 85 RR instruments by grounding the instruments to the steel carrier they sit in. The temp and fuel needles still follow each other, but now the tacho behaves.
My rangie has an annoying habit of the gauges intermittantly reading slow.
Temp and fuel will drop by roughly a 1/4 and tacho will drop 500-1000rpm or there abouts and respond slowly.
Tach isn;t too much of a worry but i'm pretty picky about fuel and temp, i like to know whats going on all the time!
I suspect a dodgy earth/connector somewhere, but before i jump in and start searching is there anyone who's had a similar issue and can point me in the direction of the possible culprit?
Cheers
Cal.

Well its fixed, for anyone else having similar problems check your voltage stabiliser in the dash cluster. (2 screws, behind tacho. can be removed with cluster in place)
Cleaned contacts with a small screw driver, as they were a bit average looking. Now all gauges act accordingly and are nice and stable!
