maxi diff locks @ axles now available

Just spoke to Warren from MR Automotive, they have purchased the rights, and are manufacturing maxi diff locks and axles, don't think they are fully set up yet, but they have 40 maxi lockers coming from overseas, in Melbourne at the moment, available soon. Warren assured me the axles will be readily available. Bob. fyi- www.mrautomotive.com.au

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

i'm guessing if all the components were made locally than they would not be able to compete with the array of imported lockers

m.r. will have to outlay x amount of $$$ with returns being spread over some time

I've heard someone in France bought the rights off Mal so they're made there.

It was news to me when I heard it but it's adding up now.

AFAIK, MR have been recalling NOS MD lockers - basically shipped OS to be sold on consignment/commission...

This was old news though, and I would have thought production would have started by now...

Barry at Hytuff still makes all the axles.

AFAIK they were a batch sold to a guy in France, but people in Europe preferred ARB (go figure) so he sold them to Warren.

    Or so I gather.

Seems they are the gen yoo wine article.

Probably because they are equally as strong, cheaper, easier to fit, and you can get spares if needed

The ARB/Jacmac/Ashcroft locker design is actually inherently slightly stronger (all else being equal) to the MD/MR locker. In the MD locker all torque is transmitted through the axle which is locked to the case. Whereas in the others, one of the side gears is locked to the case, so the torque is transmitted through a larger diameter.

    - this may be the reason Mal used larger diameter splines for the locking dog to axle spline...?
