Put four new Bighorns on the County today, had five new Michelin XPCs delivered yesterday plus a set of 110 steel rims to save the muds from interstate work trips.
Backyard looks like a tyre yard!
Changed the TD5 engine mounts...they were completely knackered......quite an easy job if you have an 18mm socket a hydraulic jack and a few pieces of wood. Now to pull out the radiator and change all the hoses!

New old stock, my bad. Been in the back of a mate's shed for a year or two.
had the fire brigade come round to my house to tell me my disco has a fuel leak.
How did they manage that?
I cleaned mine very thoroughly after playing in the mud yesterday.
Started doing the interior, going slightly mental with the interior cleaner and a few towels.
We're talking cleaning the dust out of the gaps between storage bins and trim.
VERY CLEAN NOW.
Then I tried washing the outside in the dark.
Looked okay until this morning, not it looks almost worse![]()
Put a roof rack on.

That happened to me about six months ago while I was in a meeting about 10kms from home. They had followed the 'snail trail' that I left behind. Had to get it flat topped (first time in nearly 50yrs of driving Landies!) back home.
As the fuel was leaking around the area of the rear axle, I assumed the common problem of the line from the tank having rubbed through. However, after removing ALL FOUR fuel lines and finding each one in perfect condition I then investigated the fuel filter and discovered that for the last 11,000kms, the filter had been fitted with not one but TWO square section 'O' rings between filter and body.
So, what could have been a five minute fix on the side of the road ended up being a five hour job plus a $70 tow.
Anyway I've now got a brand new spare fuel line on hand for when it does eventually rub through.
Oh! and the guy (yours truly) who fitted the second 'O' ring received a severe reprimand and will never do it again.![]()

Starting the 2.0 ltr in Thomas the 107" was getting harder & harder, especially if left for a few days. Checked ignition & spark seemed weak. Had replaced coil a few weeks ago, so changed condensor & contact breaker points. Now a very nice spark, but still no start. So out with the carby starting jet which was clean & then the main jet which was almost totally blocked. Cleaned in petrol then blown out with compressed air, & started first touch of the button. Drove around the block with the bonnet still off & all is well.
I walked passes it to get my welding gear and suffered the abuse.. "put me back together you daft basted, I'm no good to anyone with my innards spread all over!"
Sadly he is right. :/
