So it's been 9 months and I finally got around to fixing that annoying plastic flap between the boot space and the bottom tailgate. One small step for man!![]()
Seeing as the roof rack and roof top tent are off at the moment (a film production company hired the D90 to feature a part in a series being made for the ABC and wanted the roof stuff off for the week of filming) I washed and waxed the entire little truck. Thank God I didn't buy a 110!It looks great again with the few scuff marks buffed out. Unfortunately they removed the AULRO stickers (they rang me for permission and told me to add the replacement cost to the invoice, so it's a bonus for Dave and AULRO
) so I'll wait for them to be returned before allowing any further photographs

Replaced the manifold gasket on Disco 300TDI, tackle the Z4 oil cooler hoses next.
Headed to the Mechanics to book the car in to find the problem of my low power. Unable to start and move even on the slightest hill without putting the car into low range. This is on the street not in the bush im talking about.
They are booked out until Xmas but quickly put a new MAF sensor in the car for me and said to do a quick run around the streets. So a short drive i did and noticed the increase in power right away. Still not as good as i expect. So will get it worked out in the new year. Though paid for the new part and happy with the fix to get me through the holidays.
new exhaust from centre muffler back with highflow muffler and resonater, hoping for less noise whilst towing.![]()
It started on Saturday with a p gasket replacement as there was a slight weep, all was good on Sunday, this morning i back out the drive and get out to close the gates and notice coolant dripping, back into the drive-bonnet up to reveal cracked water pump. No dramas, get on motorbike and get a water pump gasket and fit a spare pump. Put all back together and the belt is making a noise-check water pump and power steering pulleys are tight and go for a run[belt always squeaks when wet so hopefully will dry out and noise will go], pull up down the road to check and notice one power steering pulley bolt is gone and i dont have a spare to rob from any where[air con tensioner bolts are to long], drive gently home to have belt shread 3 houses from home so at least i got home but the pulley was now bent and the threads were stuffed on the pump flange. Got a 2nd hand pump and pulley from a friend and fitted up with larger [13mm head] bolts. The motor has never sounded so quiet when running, I believe the original bolts had stretched and werent seating the pulley firm on the flange, also the threads under the original bolt heads were flattened-I noticed this when refitting befor the drama started and should have swapped them out then, Ive been changing fan belts trying to get rid of a noise that was the pulley....
Thought about buying and fitting the Mulgo rear door extensions to my 110. After looking up a couple of posts on the net I decided to go the DYI version by simply removing the door brackets, make two new 10mm holes a little further away from the existing ones and put the bracket back on. it Does the job and the doors now open an extra 10 cm. possibly not as much as with the Mulgo extension but enough to make a nice difference.
Next project, put some spacers under the back of the front seat rails so I can slide the seat further back and gain extra leg room. To do this the existing bolts need be replace the existing screws with longer one. Again a mulgo seat extension is available but you can easily get around it with some spacers.
Also took the trim of the back door and glued back a few clips that were broken causing a little rattle while off road.
while I was at it I removed both front seats and centre glove box and washed underneath it.
Yesterday afternoon was spent giving the cooling system a good flush and replacement of coolant. Sadly something that was well overdue but a 35 degree day is a good reminder to get it done.
Speedo cable replacement on the S3. Three bolts came off, only two went back on![]()
