moved spare wheel from bonnet to roof mount, as the bonnet has been opened every day for the last fort night with a bad run of dramas, lot easier to open now.....

After our little trip to Garden of Stone NP, my rear bumper looked like this...

Add a few strips of 100mph tape to keep it where it was, that's how it looked up until two days ago.
It was getting a bit of unwanted attention, looked ratty as hell and was coming apart, so I had a sit down in the gravel, sunburnt my arms, got dirt in my eyes, and got to hit things with a hammer until it looked like this

Still a bit tatty but much better than it was before so I can live with it...
....For about 2 months until it gets the steel treatment

    Well, yesterday actually, but.
Finally got around to getting some nice new tyres for the Disco.
    5 new Dueller A\T's in 235\70. Total cost $1100
Amazed at the difference in how she feels on the road, might do the back road run to work this morning.

Just finished installing a set of three tone air horns, finally something that you can hear, the stock horns really didn't suit a vehicle this big

I bet it was nothing to do with a NP trip, you reversed into your Mum's car again, didn't you Muppet?

    Ooooh I sincerely hope not.
Besides. Even if it was, the damage wouldn't have been from the car vs car interaction.
It would have been from when she round-house kicked me out the kitchen window and into the back of the Phantom

I've had the blanking kit for a while (thanks Killer) so I finally got around to removing the EGR valve. Thanks to Blacknights instructions, everything went according to plan and I didn't drop a single cap screw.

I decided to change the turbo hoses to new silicone ones at the same time and I did manage to drop a 6mm spanner while trying to undo one of the hose clamps, which took a while to retrieve. 3 out of 6 hose clamps needed the spanner, as the clamps were inaccessible to a screwdriver. If they have to come out again a screwdriver will do the job though.

Gave Charlie a good washing and polished out a couple of light scratches from the last day trip on the weekend.

Yesterday Linn Rover had a 50% off sale so I stocked up on filters.

Today in Adelaide I had a few hours to kill so paid a visit to triumph rover spares. Left with a v nice leather steering wheel and a few other trinkets, so next job after Christmas will be fitting them

    Cheers

    I hate borrowing tools

I hate borrowing tools, so I brought myself a three fingered internal puller for removing pilot bushes from a crankshaft / flywheel. ( $60.00, brought locally )

I tried it out on a seized 2.25 diesel and the bush came out, so easy!

Sure does beat my old method of filling the hole with grease, then hitting a plunger inserted in the hole to hydraulic the bush out.
