Realised I have lost my Defendoor...Either at All British Day last Sunday, or Monday![]()
Not today but Wednesday. Tracked down tail light fault. Wire connector broken, in harness just inside chassis. LR engineering genius at its best. Use sub standard connector and just wrap them in tape and put in an area that traps mud and moisture. Why the harness was not made to run uninterupted wires right to the back and then use connectors to run across I just dont know and dont get.
The wires were all oxidised so was near impossible to solder, had to acid dip the end of the wires first. Upside is lights now work.
Does anyone know if wiring of the same colour designations is available in Australia? Think of making up a new harness that runs full length.
If you have a defender it is only a matter of time.

I have installed the new Traxide USI-160 battery isolator.
Previously I had the Smartstart 100amp unit but hated that it disconnected the battery too quickly especially when camping for extended periods and also with winching.
What I like about the USI-160 is the size and the number of modes that it can operate in. It works much like a smartstart protecting the main battery but also can be used properly for winching handling the voltage drop and having a low power mode as well as jump starting.
I need to tidy up the wires and provide some protection to prevent the batteries being shorted from the main battery to the auxiliary. They are fused with some CAL fuses at both ends.
We rerouted the accessories jacks, still thinking about the engine cover, what insulation we need
OH 'herc' the 101 I am talking about
we have far tooo any projects here

What did I do on my Landy today? Nothing!
On my Mk3 inter I sanded back the bondo from the rust repair on the door, sanded bondo on the panel repair of the LHS wheel-arch extension, hit both of them with etch primer and went on to more paint preparation.
On my RRc I repaired the material covering of a trim panel.
Helped a mate unload workshop equipment out of his ute.
Went to see dad in hospital twice.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Double post so deleted it
