Replaced the batteries in the remote after they finally died. Got them cheap from Woolies. A small job, but being able to open the doors is important.

Took it in yesterday for a wheel alignment. I was told that it could not be done due to a worn tie rod.
I had a look this morning and could only find a bit of play in the tie rod from the steering box rod where it joins the LHF wheel. This has no effect on the wheel alignment, only a safety issue and when changed setting steering wheel centre.
So I took it back today and asked them to show me the crook joint that prevented the alignment. After they showed me and I said this does not matter, and they agreed, they did it and did not charge me.
Only one out of five spare 300 TDi steering pumps didn't leak when I tried them in the Defender.
Will get some gaskets to fit, but there is only two pumps good enough in the bearings to work with.
I think turning hard against the steering stops when out on some of the twisty tracks around here is the cause of this, I only wrecked one of them the rest have been given to me.

Went and got my new flip key cut...
...And it doesn't work :bangin:
Time for words with the locksmith!
Also had my EGR kit arrive :)
Continued head gasket replacement attempt before Easter. Argued with stuck top hose. I won. Argued with hidden manifold/turbo heat shield retaining bolt. It won ... this battle.

Looked high and low for the top to the power steering reservoir yesterday, then I gave up searching and borrowed one out of another land rover.
Opened the bonnet up today and there was the top!! stuck into the middle of the bonnet with the tops' dipstick pining it into the sound deadening material. :o
