    Two Weeks ago, Saturday:
Went down to Triumph Rover Spares and found a rear door from a TD5 with a lot less structural rust, planning to cut bits out of the frame to repair the existing one on the County.

Last Sunday: Took the old door off and decided to try just fitting the TD5 door onto the County. Turned out it was actually straighter than the original thanks to the previous owner sensibly fitting a tyre carrier.
Hooked up the wiper and demister, refitted the door card then wrote an email to TRS asking if I could get the strike plate for the newer anti-burst latch off of the same wreck.

Tuesday: Received the strike plate in the post so went about fitting it and the newer latch after work. Needed to swap the lock barrels but didn't have the key for the newer one which is necessary for taking the barrel out. Managed to pick the lock in about 20 seconds with a flat-head screw driver and a pit of wire. Never leaving my GPS in the car ever again

Finished of fitting my old UHF. Got the antenna mounted on a roof rack cross bar in the center of the roof.

    Uploaded a new TD5Inside map.

Discovered that while I had activated the SLS in the SLABS, I also needed to activate it in BCU. Now my SLS lights work on the dash.

    Happy Days.

Semi productive day, went to self service wreckers to get a pinion flange for my donut to uni swap and after 1hr of moving **** so i could get to the nut, the bastard wouldnt move.
Didnt help that with no wheels on the ground the diff was just spinning , will go back tomorrow with my bodged flange holder.

Also pulled belt tensioner off as something was squealing its head off, turned out to be the new bearing i locktited into the pulley was spinning.
Pulled the old pulley back on with spare tensioner and its all quiet now.

Finally got the $1 (S1) down to a rolling chassis, and removed 90% of the accumulated mix of Western Qld black soil clay mixed with various combinations of oil and grain dust, cured over twenty years in an out west tin shed.

Much had to be removed with hammer and coal chisel Karcher this morning just bounced off, even after soaking overnight with CT14 engine and bilge degreaser.

So far only had to cut about 1/2 doz bolts and sheared a few

    Cheers

Thought I would change the light in the clock. Easy enough , now I have no lights on the instruments. Tomoro I'll look at the fuses. Annoying. Was going to attempt a temp glue repair on the inside A pillar trim , but it is too far gone to merit any attention. So much for my quick fix Sunday afternoon.

well I decided to check out gumtree last night and found someone selling front and rear defender diffs complete including 4 disco1 style wheels. I duly rang the man this morning and am now the proud owner of two complete diffs f & r. Now to get four series 3 hubs machined to take defender discs and im on my way to having 4 wheel disc brakes. Just gotta find someone to do the machining

maybe then i'll get around to fitting the new (to me) firewall, painted and fish oiled (stinky stuff "deodorised" the can said???), as well when I get her stripped down. Dreaming again "SIGH"

    Cheers Rod
