I think if my wife had a million dollars shed give it to me to sell it. That would fund a one way fuel bill to Darwin the way mine sucks hydrocarbons, 38l/100 ATM.

What did I do today? Wondered where the fuel goes.

Let me guess, it's not a 300TDi and the engine that you are passing the fuel through isn't generating 500 kilowatts.

Check the basic's; Compression when the engine is hot, timing of the valves, then the ignition timing, check the fuel is atomising correctly and the flow through the airways is unrestricted, done using a vacuum gauge.

The exhaust may need a crowbar through the muffler as well.

What have I done with 'Fred'? Well I haven't finished rubbing the bonnet down to get rid of the crazed clear coat, give me time, it's only been twelve months since I started to do that.

Checked the tyre pressures, all good at 35 psi front and 38 psi rear on 225 75 16's, good for towing a trailer on a mixture of sealed and gravel roads.

Hooked up the car trailer to fetch some more goodies ( SWMBO reads junk ) from Primrose Sands. I was after a set of four Disco steel rims and a mould for making fibre glass mudguards for trailers.
What I got was; five rims with tyres, a couple of which are really good, four mudguard mould's and a large mould for producing a roof for a horse float.

Home I came via Nugent where another Land Rover enthusiast resides, having some time up my sleeve, I called in to see what he was up to. His project is a unique one, fitting a 200 TDi into a 1997 Disco that was a 300TDi.
He needs a seven seater for his growing family, so he picked up a 300 TDi SE7 auto with a very melted number four piston, for just over a grand and having a good 200 Tdi engine that he hadn't got around to installing into another project, he wanted to see if it would fit.

The car has 235 85 16's on alloys, I told him that he should consider after he got the car going again, to drop the tyre size back to 235 70 16's to give the 200 TDi a chance to perform.

I gave him the drum on the value of a low coolant alarm, citing his burnt piston as an example and showed him the various other faults that can cause the piston to over heat as well.

He gave me a wheel and screw for a large size press for my trouble and I made for home, but I had to leave the 80" behind, he still wants that!

    Nuthin'

    Hello from Brisbane.

Walked past it to get to the cave fridge - took out a stubby, sat down, and took a long draw.

Had a belch and thought "stuff it, a man should get around to fixin' that some day".

    Then left.

    Next week................

    Cheers

Fitted new king springs at each corner with dobinsons struts.
Way better ground clearance and better road manners.

Finished rewiring Jeremy, I didn't realise lights were so bright in this thing!

Voltage meter now reading nice and steady, alternator now spewing out current like no tomorrow, fans, vents and heater all working properly, fresh air vent now opens, rear wash/wipe now working.

Don't have a clue why, but previous owner fitted an am/fm aerial to the scuttle panel, but after the rewire the aerial and aerial amp in the boot are working flawlessly, so now I have a hole to patch in the scuttle before a re-paint.

3D printing some new kick panels, installing them, then job done :-D

Installed an additional courtesy light above the 2nd row seats and switched all 3 courtesy lights over to LED.
I had a spare factory courtesy light left over from when I installed an outback roof console in my previous 110.

Pulled the dash outta the '93 D1 to replace the heater core. Heater box split and core replaced. Quick coffee break and get stuck into putting it all back together again now

Spent the afternoon together with Peter O finishing the removal of the bulkhead from my 'parts' Series 3. Saw him off with the bulkhead in his trailer and some folding plastic in my hand.
