Got it trucked home after it failed to proceed. My bush mechanics diagnosis is it could be a leaking injector resulting in a loss of fuel pressure and no go. Got it trucked straight to the workshop where it was already booked in for tomorrow to invstigate the wet patches on the carport floor and for some other jobs. A bit frustrated. Be nice NOT to come home on a truck for once.

News is very bad. Workshop says the new timing belt recently fitted by another workshop has shredded and a lot of damage has been done. Going to see them this arvo. to look at damage and plan to hit up the workshop which fitted the belt to fix the engine. Not happy, Jan.
Fitted temp probe and gauge for the auto transmission. Working great. Now to find time to do the rotors and pads.

Fitted spacers into the rear to lift it up to match the front.
But now the bags won't inflate. Are there any tricks to this?

Over the weekend, tightened the wheel bearings on all four wheels. Three of them had no grease on the very outside locking nut and had rust on them.:eek: The rest of the hub seemed to have grease in there, probably needs more.
So today I went out and bought a tub of HTB 2 grease and will strip and re grease them all to make sure they are done right.;)

Good news. Rang the workshop which fitted the timing belt and the boss immediately offered to fix the engine under warranty. He's having it trucked to his workshop today. He even said it should be ready for us to leave as scheduled on the 18th for our trip to the Simpson. So, I'm a much happier chappy today.
Obviously, I have to trust that they get the belt right the second time and fix the other damage properly, but I guess I just have to go with that.
After assuming the trip would be off, I've now decided to act in faith it will go ahead after all. So I just rang and ordered the Simpson Desert sand flag from my local Opposite Lock store.
Incidentally, in case you don't know, there are new regulations for Simpson Desert sand flags under the Desert Parks Pass. From memory (don't have the handbook in front of me) the flag has to be at least 300 by 298?, has to be a bright colour and has to be at least 3.5 metres from the ground if mounted on the bulbar or, if mounted on the roof rack, the pole has to be at least 2 metres tall. So, if buying a sand flag, make sure you order the one which fits the Simpson regulations, so it can be used in any desert. It seems this will become the standard.
After the instrument cluster fell in my lap on some really rough corrugations. I ordered from the road a new mount for the car. It arrived and i fitted it up as soon as i got back.
Its amazing how many more screw holes there are that i have not noticed before. And its all holding together great. No rattles from that area anymore. Now the squeaks from the door are louder.

Rolled my old girl back down the driveway, laid down a big plywood board, pushed the old girl back UP the driveway with my old TR magna 5speed. Chocked and jacked her front up and placed on flat black painted stands (don't want them vanishing overnight, too brightly coloured:censored:), removed the front wheels. Then went back inside as the mozzies wanted my BLOOD :vampire::vampire::vampire:. The firewall replacement and disc conversion (if paul heystee hurries up:(), is about to begin, (I hope:p).
Love my old girl nearly as much as Snoopy my dog:D:D:D.
