Took the left front guard off late this afternoon. The guard seems to be in very good condition for its age, unlike the right hand guard. Plenty bog and a steel patch at the bottom
. Luckily i'm replacing the right hand guard with a series 3 one to accommodate the brake booster and master cylinder. I found the missing rover badges from the front and rear of the rover
, see images...someone used them as patches on the rusty bits
. Could be worse I spose
Cheers Rod
Ps. anyone know where I can get another sticker like in the first pic??
Well, yesterday and the previous day, not today.
Drove to Sydney for the Expo in the 2a, with the back filled up with surplus 2,2a and 3 bits and a couple of 110 bits.
For the trip down, made a resolution to stay below 90kph. This meant I was able to get 330km from one tank, which worked out (47l to refill) at 14.2l/100km. I tried to fill to the same level as I had before, but may have put in up to a litre more, which would reduce it to 13.9.
On the return trip, made no such effort to stay below 90, although driving into the setting sun for the last hour meant the speed was well below 90 for much of the last hour, and the first 100km or so out of Castle Hill was in relatively slow moving traffic, giving only 322km from the same tank, or 14.6l/100km.

Removed my leaking power steering pump and installed a new one.
Then went and put 30litres of petrol in diesel tank. Lucky I worked our how stupid I was being before I started the car.

Cleaned it out for the last time, found some sunnies the kids got about 6 years ago and lost... Amazing what a d2 can carry.![]()
Yes, but I did not use it - it is too noisy. The engine is quite happy at 100kph (GPS speed) without the overdrive. Major noise at this speed is tyre noise (Steeltrek) and wind noise, mainly leaks round the door seals. Some gear noise. The engine is inaudible over these. At about 80kph you can hear the engine, mostly intake noise and fan. It probably helps that I have carefully sealed all the holes in the bulkhead and floor, and have a seal along each side of the bonnet onto the mudguards.
The only time I use the overdrive is as a splitter in low range.
