What did you do on your Landy today?

Correct- there is a few type of MAF sensors- most use a hot wire, but there is crazy old ones which use a flap which moves a potentiometer to give an air flow reading :eek: ... probably still used on peugeots and other weird makes :D

From my understanding, the hot wire type MAF sensors pass 5v thru a hot wire, and the airflow cools it and changes the output voltage. The more the voltage changes, the more airflow, and hence gives the ECM a voltage to work off for fuelling etc.

The hot wire can get covered in crap, and can affect its reading, meaning fuelling, timing and a whole heap of engine management maps will be out of kilter. The MAF sensor is one of the key drivers of the tune during the pen loop' section of the map.

Yes - Get some proper Air flow sensor cleaner, and give it a few squirts and you should be sweet.

Yesterday I finished patching the bottom of the sill water tank on the 110. And reinstalled it, which is a pain. It is possible to do this withoout removing the driver's floor, but a lot easier to connect the filler hose and vent if you do take out the floor. In turn, the driver's floor can be removed without taking out the transmission cover - just remove the screws along the edge and the next one up, front and back. But you have to get everything just right, including pushing the accelerator down before lifting the floor.

While doing this, found one of the bolts holding the driver's folding step was so loose that it was about to lose its nut.

A couple of days ago I made a trip to Kingston with 'Fred' and the trailer to pickup a ute crane I had brought off eBay, on the way home I discovered 'Fred's' brake lights were remaining on. :mad:

A quick fiddle with the brake switch to see what was wrong and it was faulty. This switch was purchased new less than a year ago off eBay, so what to do?

In my backyard I have more than one Land Rovers in various stages of running and disrepair. :angel: The Silver D1 wreck that I acquired from Phippzy still has some goodies in it even though the LHS front flexible brake line is missing, but that's another story. :oops2: But it did have the same switch that matches a ABS braking system.

After some time, a 60 cm stick and two cups of coffee, I managed to fit the second hand switch into 'Fred' and now I shouldnt have any more Hyundai's using my trailer as a nose piece. :D

got keen, pulled the head on my 2A and decoked the engine. all felt good bottom end wise. fitted new gaskets and hoses and now sounds very nice at idle.
just have to re-torque the head, adjust the tappets and give it a full fluid change, fingers crossed all will be ready for a lap around the block to Corowa!

Finally fitted a c6100 speedo corrector to the d2a.

Put my long range tank back into my D3 after I removed it to replace the fuel transfer pump. What a bastard of a job that was

Replaced the rear prop shaft and the transfer case oil seal with my daughter. She is keen to learn and seeming she starts to learn to drive this year thought the project Landy would be good to get her to help and at least understand the basics of how the car she drives works.

Loaded the back up with camping gear and odd junk, towed the camper trailer to Stanthorpe for the weekend and drove back. Really convinced me we need drawers to store the stuff I keep in the back. Leaning towards Off-Road Systems at the moment.

Done the drivers side front suspension strut and wheel bearing. Tommorow night I'll do the passengers side

Yesterday, started a routine service for the 2a. Changed oil and filter, serviced aircleaner, adjusted points and ignition timing. Tomorrow will continue with the service.
