Well, after about twenty months of plying the Newell Highway making sure everyone has enough loo paper or pillows or whatever, I decided to spend some time at home, so it was time have a look at my poor old D2, which hasn't moved for around nine months. Fitted one of Carl's early twin battery cradles with the first of the Yellow Tops, put the manifold back on, turned the key.... turned the key..., oh, wait, the red light for the immobiliser is on, pressed the button, turned the key..Yay, she goes! Now it's time to put back all the stuff in the back where I swapped the 7 seat stuff with Tim, and drive him down to Adrian, where much will happen. So, that's it for him for a few months.
Also, fixed the door on the D1, so now I can get out without pulling the handle a hundred times. Stuck the headlining back up too. In the course of doing this, the SRS light came on... Oh well.
Spent some time figuring out how much of the good stuff on the D1 would go on the D2. Hmm, might be easier to put the TD5 in the D1! Not really. Maybe sell the lot ( D1 300, D2 TD5, RRC and Series III cab chassis ) and buy ONE CAR that works!!
Not true. The 300 TDi D1 is great, apart from the constantly flat batteries, which is my project once the D2 is out of the carport. Well, except that it's gutless. Got a timing belt kit and a few other things to fit to it. Looking for a new intercooler so I can fit it all when I have it apart.
Oh, and I put some new wiper inserts on the Fairmont. Seemed to be all it asked for.
