On the bright side I now have a rust proof chassis and the tyre side of my front mud flaps ante nice and black

After 5 months of trouble, finally put everything back together! Haven't test driven mind you...so couls still be some problems to come.

Well it wasn't today but on Thursday I put a third of a bottle of metholated spirits into the petrol tank. On Wednesday I was out of the stuff and had a good deal of trouble keeping the Disco running on a trip to town.
During sustained wet weather the Disco runs on only 6 or 7 cylinders and
misses badly. I think that somehow water or condensation gets into the system even tho the vehicle lives in the garage. Over the last week we had 26 inches of rain here where I live and I stayed at home gloating that I could.
It took me many moons to find out what was causing the problem and I had the systems checked time after time. New fuel filter, tank cleaned, new fuel pump and so on etc. Didn't fix the problem.
Then, about a year ago I remembered an old bush mechanics trick by putting a cup of metho into the tank. Problem solved. When I do that it runs sweetly.
I just have to remember not to run out and be complacent during the monsoon season.

Went to start the TD5 Disco this morning, all I got was 'click,click'.On the third click, she started, forced myself not to panic [I always think the worst], got my son to attempt a start, whilst I stared into the engine bay, hoping for a sign. On his third attempt, a mini bolt of lightening zapped out from the vicinity of the starter motor, the small wire that clips onto the solenoid had no insulation at the clip, so out with electrical tape, clean @ insulate. Then lifted the relays in the engine fuse box connected to the start system, to my surprise there was a layer of oil underneath each one, enough IMO to cause a short across the relay prongs [for want of a better word] Cleaned entire fuse box, checked @ cleaned the red plug for the ECU [ some oil there, not much] disco now starts first time, touch wood, got to hand it to LR, the only car I know with an oil leak in the fuse box! :D Bob
I fitted the mounts for the jack on the bullbar , im still waiting on the rest of my suspension setup to arrive arrrghhhh
Don't drive down to Victoria with that pedestrian friendly jack on the front. Anything that protrudes like that forward of the bar is a big no no here, and I am not sure but I think that NSW is just as bad or even worse than Vic.Quote:

Its ok , its only goes on for offroad trips , but thanks for the advice anyway .Its pretty much the same here , not that anyone cares including the boys in blue .

Well today my rocky mountain door tops arrived from Modern Motors in Dungog, and i cant wait to fit them this weekend.
it should help when i go on the Outback land Rover Heritage drive in June
