When I resealed the diff last weekend a nut stripped. So today I replaced all the nuts with new ones with nylock lock nuts as all of the old ones were sus. Sealed up the sump plug. Hopefully fixed a broken wire from the 12 volt alternator. For no apparent reason , other than possibly it`s Chinese wire, it keeps braking next to the last join. Have soldered the wire this time. Wire has always been securely fixed to the battery charging wire which is much heavier.

Replaced a broken spring in the tailgate lock of the disco now I can remove the cable tie holding the locking mechanism unlocked and lock and unlock it with the key :)

Pulled front tailshaft out (knackered the nuts, need new ones so I can put the Tom Woods shaft in).
Pulled turbo & manifold heat sheilds looking for coolant leak ... found two missing manifold studs (snapped off) & a (known) leaking welch plug in the head :(
Such is Land Rover :)

Removed intercooler, cleaned and flushed with degreaser, turps and the garden hose, trying to find my Smokey exhaust problem. Seems to be smoother power as boost kicks in now will see if fuel consumption drops from 12 Ltrs per 100km

Mounted my 2-way. Temporary installation until I build a roof console, so the mount bracket is velcro'd onto the dash top. The power wires down under the dash though a tiny gap I found at the bottom of the windscreen and are quick-connected in the interim. The antenna coax cable is run along the bottom of the windscreen and doubled around so the length is right for when it will be roof console mounted. Good enough to provide some company and help for my Service Crew in the Australasian Safari starting Friday.
