    Hi Coop,
I fitted a second hand Milford barrier. I don't have any pictures, just drilled some holes in the floor, stuck some bolts through and used mudguard washers to spread the load. Top mounts are through the sill beneath the giraffe windows, couldn't fit big washers and felt like playin with my rivnut tool so it gained some m6 rivnuts.

    Gaining access...

Got tired orf trying to see the timing marks on my V8. My lamp is'nt overly bright and coupled with the "easy" access to the dizzy bolt, - I finally had enough.

    - Off with the viscous fan, ditto the fan-shroud and Voila! - NOW I can see it ! Less than a minute to set, and SO easy... Nice being able to wield a normal spanner on the lock-bolt without feeding it through a pesky fan.

Whilst I've got the fan off, may as well take out the radiator in the next few days and have it rodded and 'properly' re-soldered...
(Did I mention that we came home today on an RAC flatbed?)

Great weekend- best Christmas day ever!

    Hi all.
Had a great weekend just gone. Fitted the plasma rope and carried out the 10,000km service so she now runs like a bought one. Really happy.
But today........just proved that my lovely wife does listen to me and under the tree was a box from Mud Stuff UK. So first thing this morning I was in the garage fitting the tunnel tray and the two snow covers to the wing top vents. I wanted the tunnel tray as we,re sick of nowhere to put our teas and coffees and the snow covers as I'm fed up with crap filling the air intake that has already cost me a fan motor. But really I thing they look a bit cool!

I sincerely hope that everyone had a good Christmas, spent quality time with loved ones and I hope your new year is as good as you hope for.

    Cheers,
    Nino

Well, connected the new Garmin GPS in the D2, tried to make some sense of it, much prefer the old geo. map & compass. I'm sure this is a conspiricy by the young ones to go for a trip in a land rover.[ they understand the technology] Can't blame them. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Rebuilt a second 3 bolt steering box ready for a swap out, had the main shaft hard chromed and ground as well as spun up a new SB bush. much better than mucking about with a not so good 4 bolt.

Engine and Transmission Temp Monitor installed.

Hi all. Installed my xmas present...an 'EngineSafe' brand inline probe monitor to my 97 TDI Disco auto. Appears to be a relatively new unit on the market, but made in Aus and suppliers were very good to deal with.

Monitors coolant temp and phase change (level) via the 1 probe in top radiator hose. I fitted immediately on outlet of thermostat housing U-pipe to pick up any loss as high as possible rather than radiator end. Also got the optional transmission temp probe and fitted in the hose just before the factory high temp switch. All seem to work really well..very accurate and nice user configurable buzzer alarm settings and a few other features.

Great for monitoring, but really just hope when/if the day comes... it saves me from another cooked head event!

Hope everyone has a safe xmas holiday.

Not today, but over the last week or so:

Neptune got a full internal clean out & vacuum.
It's ok, the last time I did that was 5 years ago.

Then I pulled the instrument panel, put connectors on to the cruise control wiring; and then extended the central locking antenna (from the standard 1/4 wave length to full wave length). I wish I'd done that ages ago!

The front half of the Disco also got a clean up & vacuum.

Bit extreme were'nt you ? - Bordering on Obsessive-Compulsive Cleaning Disorder...

Took radiator to Extreme Radiators in Welshpool, and Martin kindly stripped and cleaned and rodded out my (cheapy core) and put it back together properly.
    - Did the oil coolers too. Lumps of sludge in the engine one...

24 hour turnaround at Xmas time... and today its being re-commissioned....- After I buy a new thermostat to replace the now-blocked original.
(the side-effect of putting 'stop-leak' in the cooling system... blocks holes as indeed it is meant to do... like the little 2mm hole in the thermostat which allows air to pass through as you re-fill....)

    Another one lives

AlexH and myself started up the Euro 3 TD5 engine that we fitted into a 1999 station wagon, it ran smooth and starts well.

The fuel cooler leaked water at both ends, I was a bit perturbed to see how easy it was damaged by pulling the old hoses off.
