    Collected another D1

Another D1 300TDi man' collected from the auction yard today.

Front of motor and rocker cover are off, guess what the problem is?

Couldn't find the comealong, used the wire strainers instead to unload the D1.

Apart from the motor it doesn't look too bad, has some sun damaged paint on the roof, should be a good project, its been named Fhil and is along side of Fred the other D1.

    Cheers Arthur

On the weekend my TD5 D2 had major surgery 6pm-11:30pm Sat removed the old head. Sun 8:00am to 1:30am mon replaced water-pump just in-case and fitted new AMC head.

I didn't think it would take so long. Had a few Doh moments, like fitted the rocker cover only to remember I never adjusted the rollers . Didn't reconnect the main fuel hose to the cooler. (that explained the puddle of diesel on the floor when priming) After that was sorted I primed the rail 7 times then turned the key and she started. That was a relief.

The water pump took 4 hours to remove and refit (there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old one but at least I know now and have a good spare)

Finished a LH swivel seal change on the County - including speedi-sleeving the stub axle seal land, new swivel bearing and replacing the drive flange which had badly worn splines.

    Gotta love vacuum brake bleeders

Next jobs are to re-fit the UHF and try and track down the oil leak from the RH side of the 4bd1..

I removed the fuse to disable the horn and also unplugged the alarm horn as each time it rains or we get overnight condensation the alarms go off.

As the lights still flash i have bought a cover to ward off the rise in humidity that sets off the alarm

Being in Broome for the winter the local Rover "Agent" unfortunately cannot turn off the alarm becuse they do not have the cables for a 2002 Discovery, they are a joke
