I feel that We need a thread that deals entirely with paint and surface preparation.

Lots of information about painting has been offered up on the forum over time, it would be great to have it all collated into one working thread.

When 'Fred' went North yesterday, I did notice a lot of Disco's on the road around the area where we travelled to, all of which seemed to be running well with no sign of any smoky motor syndrome, but a high percentage of those Disco's that were spotted, had spoilt paint work with their Clear coat succumbing to the effects of Tasmania's high levels of ultraviolet sunlight.

A pity as far as could be seen they all had very straight bodies and the paintwork does spoilt what would be an otherwise nice vehicle.

I have spent a few years working as a brake specialist in the early eighties. Although a percentage do rust, more often than not when replacing pads, the calliper pistons are still serviceable.

Having said this, I did not know that stainless was available, and yes a great idea.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Without dragging off topic, we also need a sticky thread posted on replacement S/S pistons by model and their manufacturer and part numbers. (does anyone have D2 knowledge on if they're stainless or a number for them?)

I'd happily retro fit them to the D2 (if necessary) but then would rather do the math to fit the 6 & 8 spot brembos.

    Almost rolled my County
Front two wheels reached for the stars then a back wheel slipped off a rock into a hole and only the butt clenching held it together.

Front and rear Al-track diffs, new winch, rock sliders, QT diff guard all now installed on our 90. First little outing confirmed the performance of the diffs as excellent!

Edit; forgot the National Luna dual battery setup too

Checked my air filter and broke the radiator overflow plastic tube - rather than patch or replace with OEM item I bought some silicone hose rated to 170 deg. C and replaced the whole thing - should outlast the vehicle now

Just for the hell of it removed spare tire from the back door and re hung it

    conclusion..........its heavy

Jacked up front of 90 and removed wheel and put it back on.

Conclusion ..........its heavy........LR jack is only just adequate 3 stages would be better wheel only cleared ground by 50mm on level concrete surface

A lot of food for thought here for me

    Cheers Paul
