Took it for a good run when we went canoeing on the Hinze dam. Ran beautifully heavily loaded and with a kayak on the roof, even up the steep climb to Mt Tamborine the temperature needle never moved above one-quarter. Shows the results of having replaced the viscous fan, electric fans and radiator in recent years. Now to save up to do the timing belt next.

Now that the AU Falcon alternator has proven it's worth, I've stripped the alt, ps pump, associated brackets and adjustment linkages out. Taking a page from my mate Ed China's book. Everything is being degreased, cleaned, sanded, primed and painted to make the old boy look a bit more respectable under the bonnet. If I had the room and an engine hoist, I'd be stripping it all out for a thorough inspection, clean, paint and rebuild, but I don't think the hand brake would appreciate the family car being off the road for a week or so.

God I love working on my Rangey.

Not today but yesterday, I "installed" 8 drawing pins to secure Larry's headlining - it now brushes the top of my head. Then in another feat of engineering, 'fabricated' a coat-hanger retainer to prevent the exhaust from rubbing against the auto trans sump, until I can obtain a new exhaust rubber-hanger-thingy.

Not today but very recently I took off the Pumas front propshaft and changed the original grease nipples for the long type. This will make a stupid little job much easier in the future.
Also fitted a new Mahle fuel filter.
Took off the LR towbar to give me more room to fit a rear wheel carrier. While it's out I've rounded off the edges on the laser cut bits where the powder coat lifts off and wet gets underneath and starts rusting. Plenty of rust converter and then a coat of rust proofing paint and it's looking good.
Now to wait for the wheel carrier to arrive and once fitted that will be it for a while.
    Maybe.

today with some help from scott saw

the head on, the new block in and mated with the clutch works in place.

the last week has seen the new gearbox and Tcase in with the old propshafts out for new UJ's

buggered turbo sent out for reworks.

and parts obtained for the Exhaust brake.

you know the usual "ran it without oil" repair works.

oh gave it a new timing belt too.

Took a big hole saw and a dremel to the dashboard and fitted a Madman EMS II and a Carling warning light for my water/fuel filter sensor.

Also removed my old ARB compressor from next to my storage drawers - fitted a new twin motor compressor under the rear seats the other day.
