Finished a couple of small wiring repairs on the 2a -

    1. Replace the fuel gauge changeover switch as the original had become intermittent. Bigger job than expected as the replacement switch was largeer than the original, so had to make a new small panel for it. (I removed the original army panel that used most of the LJ parcel tray - the FFR ammeter was not connected, the map light was moved to the roof of the cab just above and behind the LH door, leaving just the fuel gauge switch to be moved to a 40mm square panel above the LH end of the instrument panel)

    2. Last autumn, I moved the resistor for half speed on the heater fan to behind the RH demister, so as to get some demisting before the engine warms up. Unfortunately, a misjudgement in clearance between the tagstrip and the wiper wheelbox let the smoke out, so I had to replace the wiring.

Nearly identical. I didn't want a lift and all the vibration issues associated with one on a defender. 130 springs were just enough to return it to standard height. It rode well too. I also purchased 130 helper springs in the rear as I was travelling with heavy loads a lot. That worked well in the rear.

    I agree.

The standard 130 front springs are the LR recommended heavy duty springs for the front of the 110. I've run 130 on the front of the last 3 of my 110's and am obviously very satisfied with them.

Do you order the 130 coils from a dealer or is there a good aftermarket option?

Karcraft, BMI, Rovercraft, probably Roverlord on here, etc would be far cheaper than a dealer.

Or place a wanted ad in AULRO as some of us have removed 130 springs as they aren't tall enough.

Thanks everyone for your advice regarding the 130 springs. That sounds like a perfect, easily sourced retrofit. I'll be doing that at the next available opportunity.

Yesterday I replaced the complete bonnet catch as it was damaged beyond repair by all the corrugations on our just finished trip. The bonnet shook loose on the Gun Barrel I think and then the millions of shaky miles after on the Gary Hwy and Talawana Track finished it off.
Not long ago I had after market axles fitted all round and a complete set of new BFGs ready for the same trip.
Apart from a rattle from the engine which has now disappeared that was the only problem I had.

Made a trip into town this morning, to get some tiedown anchors from Alsi. But also picked up a pair of light bars for the 110 that I had on order.

Spent most of the afternoon fitting these. Got them mounted, but ran out of time to do the wiring. Will do that tomorrow.
