300Tdi temp

I run a VDO gauge. With my 2.8tgv Def110 trayback, around town no load it normally sits on about 82c, on a hot day in summer on the hwy it will sit on 88-89c, with my 1.8t trailer around town 89c and on the hwy it will sit on 91c...I watch this gauage like a hawk....egts seem fine and I tend to only watch them on climbs/hills and hwy work loaded or unloaded. I was able to achieve these lower temps by using a T/stat that cracks at 82c rather than the OEM 88c and by also cutting a vent in the side of the left hand gaurd. If I was to do it again, I would cut the hole/vent a bit bigger mostly by going further down.

VDO sender installed and wired today, and now it works!

I have a spare LHS wing with air intake, will fit one day, the idea was to allow the VNT to breathe more easily...and it looks stock

Buying a VDO mechanical water temp gauge, but not sure which length I need for a Disco.

2600mm or 4000mm ? I find it hard to believe I will need more than 2.6m, but you know what they say about assumptions..... Anyone installed one in a Disco know what length will do the trick? I'll mount it on the top of the dash to the left of the instrument box.

The short one is fine, otherwise you'll be looping lots and lots and lots of capillary ;)

Actually, I think I've only ever used the 1600mm one in a Deefer ?

Those "round" buttons on the VDO senders are in fact made for spade connectors. The spade is pushed across the button as in 90 degrees to the flat of the button.

I cant remember the VDO part number for the sender BUT I do recall that the thread size is M10 by 1.0 pitch. So that one you have listed with 1/4-18 wont screw in to the 300tdi head.

That was the Q I was supposed to ask in my oil pressure sender thread from the other day, cheers !

I got the 2600mm one and was the perfect length for the cable route I chose.
