    TD5 Defender Thermo Fan

    When does it run?
I have never heard mine run tested it today and it does work, the relay that Rave says is for the fan is the fuel pump relay on mine so I cant test it from the relay back.
Does anyone know what the circumstances are to cause it to run
    Thanks

On my D2a Td5 it operates when the A/C is running, or if the coolant temperature exceeds 100deg C.

Can someone with a TD5 Defender tell me if the thermo fan comes on when you put the A/C on mine doesn't.
Rave for a 99 Model indicates that the rearmost relay under the drivers seat is the one for the fan this is actually the fuel pump relay on mine but mine is a 2002.
I think that most Defenders in Australia had an Australian installed A/C so I am not sure where I should be looking, the wiring diagrams are the same but I have no idea where the relay for the cooling fan is?
    Does anyone know?

I'm interested too because mine (2001 build 110) doesn't come on with the air con automaticly? So I connected it directly to the battery and the fan works.

I know on my 200TDI Disco it always came on when the air con as on thought it was the same with the Defender 2001?

IIRC the units with the extended nose have the fan up front and it is ECU driven...

It turns on only when required to augment the viscous fan in high temp conditions.
