    Cruise control not working discovery 1

    Hey guys as the titles says my cruise control isnt working on my discovery 1 v8, though I've never used it, I've got the buttons on the steering wheel and dash under the clock would these split hoses I just found have anything to do with it?

    those hoses are the vac hose for the cruise control to work, its a very common fault, but easy repaired, the hose is availible from any auto spares supplier,

    I replaced all my hoses and have been told it's something in the steering column? Not sure what it is though?

    mine stoped working about a year ago.
    as per recomendations here i stuffed around with the switch on the brake pedal. ended up replacing it but that was not the problem.
    took the vac pump out to check if that was workin, yep shes a goer so put that back in.
    next i changed the buttond on the stering wheel, and that fixed it. so im happy again.

    They are a notorious pain in the arse. Per above are the normal things that go wrong. With mine the latest problem is brake switch adjustment! Not worth the drama. Cheers

    On our's I've replaced all the vac hoses as the one to the diaphram was split and stopping the cruise from working.

    The split vacuum hose will be a recurring problem, better to replace it all with new hose now.

    I have tried everything/ New brake switch and checked vac brake switch =OK

    Steering wheel rotary coupler and switches on steering wheel =OK

    PUMP Hoses and throttle actuator, connected to external power =OK

    Cruise Control switch in Dash replaced with NOS =OK

    ECU replaced with one from e-bay ... don't know if it is any good ??

    Check all power into ECU as far as is possible =OK

    Cruise Control disable relay =OK

    Cruise control Lockout relay ( for automatic ) =OK

    I just cant find the fault and don't feel all that willing to purchase another ecu and not fix it .

    I feel like ditching the land rover unit and purchasing a better one.

    The vehicle has had two owners before me. The second owner purchased it when it was two years old and said the cruise control has never worked.

    Is there a cruise control service company that can diagnose what my problem is ??

    Hi Gina, how did you check the brake switch, did you suck on the hose whilst it was attached to bracket behind pedal or off.
    The switches have a 'racket' adjustor, the plunger can be lengthened or shortened. The reason I ask as if it is not correctly set then the open position of switch might still be open whilst the brake pedal lever is touching it , but not closing it properly allowing loss of vacuum.
    If that's the case, gently pull on the sliding pin and click it out a few notches to take up the difference need to close vacuum.
