is it safe to use degreasers around sensors?

Hi - my crank angle sensor of D2 Td5 is filthy but looks like a bitch to get to...I'm assuming it wouldn't be a problem to just hit it with some spraycan degreaser given that they're just simple points?...the MAF would be a different story. Any other issues with using degreaser under the bonnet (apart from being careful with spraying water around to clean it off...)?
Always looking for creative new ways to get bogged... :whistling:

76 RR...sold coz fuel was expensive at 70c/l
    93 200 Tdi Disco...old faithful...sold to make way for...
    99 Td5 Disco ACE...nice drive...hopefully reliable...

Dunno but I would personally use contact cleaner instead. Just me. As for spray degreaser, it works better if you brush it on with a stiff brush, eg an old dishwashing brush, then you don't need much water pressure to shift it afterwards.
