The Bias springs aren't that much of a pain. I just used my hands!!!.
Move the lever to 5th/rev then fit the left side first, making sure the top of the spring is over the metal plate. this give more play when fitting the spring. Push the lower part of the spring with your hand and the bolt in the spring. Match up the hole with the bolt and screw in gently(a few threads). Then lower the spring and move it across to the correct side of the plate. All done. No need for multi grips.
Do the same for the other side although the spring has to travel more to get into the bolt hole.
