Squeezing two decent sized batteries into a Defender battery box?
Hi all
I currently have a deep cycle 105 amp/hour battery and a Century NS70 (540cc) battery in the battery box of my Defender (1998 300TDi 130).
The century battery is over 4 years old and came with the vehicle when I bought it over 2 years ago. It is finally dying and I need to replace it. In my opinion this battery is far underpowered for the vehicle (ie warn winch requires a minimum 650cc battery)
I would like to fit a battery that measures 305mm long x 172mmw x 225mmm deep (Century N70ZZ4WD) but the height is the problem. Trying to think of a solution....either cut a hole in the black tin cover plate so the negative terminal sits out under the seat base or somehow cut the hump out the base of the battery box to make a flat floor.
Currently I have the deep cycle battery against the side of the battery box - parallel to the door.
Thanks for the advice.
Cheers
Andrew
